Generosity Doesn’t Happen by Accident

It happens just like everything else in the Christian life.  Jesus gives us his gifts, pulling us into his merciful orbit while pushing us out into the world to do some good.

Congregations and pastors find some of these things – praying, coming to Church on Sunday, or being merciful – much easier to talk about than others.

Unfortunately, tithing and almsgiving often fall to the very bottom of that list, which causes no end of trouble in the life of the Church and its witness to the world.

Because Jesus talked about money more than almost anything else, let’s learn to do that too.

Together let’s explore generosity that is both ordinary (tithing and alms) and extra-ordinary (capital campaigns) – in a way that is Christological, merciful, practical, thankful, joyful, and hopeful.

The conversation, rooted solidly in key biblical texts, will include evaluation of available stewardship and capital campaign materials but will focus on practical and programmatic implementation in your parish.
