When I Survey the Wondrous Cross – The Crucifixion in Art
DOXOLOGY Lenten Preaching Workshop
February 5 – 6, 2025
Lindenwood Retreat and Conference Center, Donaldson, Indiana
Luther notes that we cannot help but picture the events proclaimed in Holy Scripture. We’ll look at the history of crucifixion art from early icons to modern art and develop preaching themes using the paintings as illustrations to focus on the proclamation of our Savior.
Participants will leave with a portfolio of images they could use in a variety of ways, and a series of Lenten devotions and hymns reflective of the painting.
