Dr. Kleinig discusses Pentecostal misunderstandings of worship and the Holy Spirit, contrasting the Biblical view of Reception of the Holy Spirit and the Work of the Spirit in the life of the Christian.

2. The Means of the Spirit: The Ministry of the Spirit through Holy Things – Dr. John Kleinig

How does God the Father give the Spirit? How do Christians receive the Spirit? How does God use physical things to make us spiritual people?

3. Heavenly Power for Earthly Work: Our Corporate Reception of the Holy Spirit in the Divine Service – Dr. John Kleinig

Dr. Kleinig examines the Scriptural teachings regarding Charismata, the diversity and purpose of gifts, testing of charismata and God’s use of gifts to equip each believer for faithful service in his vocation and station.

4. Daily Reception of the Holy Spirit Through Meditation and Prayer – Dr. John Kleinig

Kleinig discusses the necessity of daily reception of the Spirit for a “sustainable life and ministry through the Word” (taught, preached, prayed, sung and meditated upon). Daily sanctified by the Spirit, we become empowered for our vocations, and having received the Spirit we are equipped to become “life giving springs for others.”
